At the Mobile World Congress 2023 (MWC 2023), Xiaomi unveiled yet another augmented reality (AR) glass. Simply dubbed the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glass Discovery Edition, it's the company's first wireless AR glasses as well as its third AR wearable. It's not on sale but you can read below to find out more about it.
Weighing 126kg only, it features a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1 Platform and Snapdragon Spaces XR Developer Platform. Offering a wireless latency of as low as 3ms1 between a phone paired to the glasses, its wireless connection with full link latency is as low as 50ms2. The overall body material is made out of magnesium-lithium alloy and carbon fibre parts.
Xiaomi also claims that the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses are one of the industry's first to use a "retina-level" display. The PPD of the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses is 58, which is the industry-leading closest to meeting this quality specification. Moreover, it has a pair of MicroOLED screens and is capable of performing complex light refraction in a limited volume.
Other than that, the Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses also feature up to 1200nits, micro gesture interactions, spatial audio experience, and even allow users to "grab" the screen from a typical television screencast, and then continue watching it on the glasses. Xiaomi also integrated AR glasses to operate several smart devices through AR scenes. Anyway, you can visit the official newsroom here and read the full details.
The Xiaomi Wireless AR Glasses Discovery Edition requires pairing with Xiaomi 13 or other Snapdragon Spaces-ready devices. We aren't sure if we would ever see these AR glasses here in Malaysia but time will tell. Until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
