While some car enthusiasts love the roar of a powerful combustion engine, more consider EVs are the future. But EVs are far from mainstream, as there are many technological bottlenecks to overcome like the battery. Recently, sources found a Xiaomi patent related to EV batteries.
According to ITHome, Xiaomi filed a new EV-related patent with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). The patent (detailed in Chinese) seems to be about an advanced cooling system for EV batteries. It illustrates how coolant can be run between the rows of battery cells, before being discharged from the sides.

At a glance, it's a simple concept that reminds us of the liquid-cooled heat pipes on coolers for computer CPUs and GPUs. The coolant will run between the hot components and then be moved to a radiator. It's possible that Xiaomi's advanced cooling for EV batteries was based on the same concept, so there might be a second patent for a radiator of sorts. Of course, we can only speculate since there's no official announcement from Xiaomi. But the company aims to lead the smart EV industry by 2024, so we should hear some relevant news in 2023.
With that said, which EV company do you think has the best chance of becoming an industry leader? Share your thoughts in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
