Since Apple launched the MagSafe chargers, we're starting to see other companies move towards the use of magnetic wireless charging. OPPO is one of the first to reveal this type of tech for Android devices, but now Xiaomi is also part of the gang.

Yesterday, Xiaomi introduced its new magnetic wireless technology. The tech uses "small inductance + magnetic absorption" to deliver magnetic wireless charging of up to 50W. At the same time, it has 50% less energy loss and would have less chance of overheating. Moreover, the magnet is strong enough to clamp onto devices of up to 800g. This means that you can lift up your device by the charger if you want to.

Besides a brief overview of the technology, Xiaomi also revealed two new magnetic wireless chargers. The first is a 30W charger that can fully charge a 5000mAh battery within 86 minutes. Another one is a 50W magnetic wireless charger that cuts down that recharge time to 49 minutes. The 50W charger even comes with an air cooler to prevent the charger from overheating.

We expect Xiaomi to also launch magnetic wireless battery packs eventually. But what do you think of the new tech? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news about it.
