Xiaomi during an event in China yesterday showed that it is more than just a smartphone company by unveiling its latest robotic product, a full-size humanoid robot called the CyberOne. Of course, this is not the company’s first venture into robotics as it has previously released the CyberDog, the famous robot dog with impressive capabilities.

Based on the presentation yesterday, CyberOne is on a whole new level compared to the CyberDog. A full-size humanoid which Xiaomi gave the nickname ‘Metal bro’ for some reason, the bionic robot is 177cm tall and weighs 52kg. Heck, Xiaomi even gave it a zodiac sign, which is Leo.

Moreover, its face is made of a curved OLED panel and it can see the world in 3D and hear its surroundings with its two built-in microphones. Xiaomi asserted that the CyberOne combines sophisticated mechatronics and artificial intelligence (AI) created by its specialised Robot Labs.

Xiaomi claimed that 'Metal bro’ can interpret 45 human semantic emotions, distinguish between 85 different environmental semantics and learn new skills everyday. Moreover, the Robot Labs developed a whole-body control algorithm for the CyberOne which can coordinate the movement of its 21 joints.

For now, the CyberOne is still in its development phase and won’t be available for purchase anytime soon. As reported by GizmoChina, the humanoid will most likely cost up to CNY700,000 or ~RM460,727.
