According to CNBC, Xiaomi said it could develop a new-gen SoC for the next version of the XRING02. However, Xiaomi said it will not release its own processing chips every year, like Apple does. So, what should you know about it?
Its's financially challenging to produce them consistently
For your information, around 1 million units of the XRING01 have been produced and are powering devices such as Xiaomi phones and tablets. However, to overcome the losses, as many as 10 million units of the chip need to be produced for each edition.
Additionally, that makes it one of the biggest challenges in using the chip. Two devices that come with the XRING01 chip are the Xiaomi 15S Pro and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra tablet.
Moreover, various companies choose to develop their own chips in an effort to allow them to further optimise software and operating systems, as well as control the device introduction schedule each year without relying on other parties.
As of now, Xiaomi has not made a complete transition to chip usage and still relies on MediaTek and Qualcomm chips. In fact, the recently introduced Xiaomi 17 series is powered by the latest generation Snapdragon chips.
Unfortunately, there are no further details on the news. So, we should wait for more announcements from Xiaomi.
