YES to provide 150 million GB of free data during latest MCO

Now that another movement control order (MCO) is in place, all of us are going to be stuck at home for another two weeks, or maybe even more. We need to be able to stay connected to the Internet in that duration, but not everyone has broadband. With that in mind, YES will be giving away free data again.

YTL Communications announced earlier today that it plans to give away 150 million GB of free data to Malaysians during MCO. However, there's a catch. The free data will be available via the YES DATABACK, which is tied to the Shopee e-commerce platform. To be specific, every time you spend RM50 on Shopee, you'll get to redeem 5GB of data, with a monthly maximum of 100GB. The good news: All your purchases made in December 2020 will count.

Besides the free data, YES will be offering its YES Kasi Up Prepaid 15 plan for a discounted rate. The plan normally costs RM15 per month for 10GB of data, but new YES customers can now buy the SIM card on Shopee for just RM1. Also, the delivery will be free. Now that this is happening, we may see the return of free and unrestricted 1GB data daily from telcos. We'll keep an eye out for those and update you all when it happens. For other news like this, do stay tuned to TechNave.com.
