Yahoo today appears to have sold one of its technology sites, TechCrunch, to an investment firm, called Regent. The sale price has not been disclosed at this time. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, TechCrunch was founded around 2005, and this year it is around 20 years old. The TechCrunch website focuses on technology news, while also focusing on startups and the world of investments involving technology companies. The company that acquired TechCrunch also previously acquired Foundry, the company behind MacWorld and PCWorld.
With this acquisition, Regent further strengthens their position and portfolio involving technology media. Previously, TechCrunch was acquired by AOL in 2010. Shortly after, Verizon acquired AOL and placed various media brands under Yahoo. In 2021, Verizon sold Yahoo to investment firm Apollo Global.
We have yet to confirm other details on the news. So, we should wait for more information from Yahoo. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.
