Just yesterday, Yes by YTL Communications, together with HONOR Malaysia, announced a joint RM40000 corporate social responsibility (CSR) contribution aimed at enhancing the digital capabilities of Hospis Malaysia, one of the country’s leading providers of community-based palliative care.
The initiative combines free 5G connectivity with uncapped data and speed from Yes and 20 units of the HONOR Pad 10 5G from HONOR, equipping Hospis Malaysia’s clinical teams with the tools needed to stay connected during home visits, remote consultations, and multidisciplinary care coordination.
The CSR Mission
Hospis Malaysia’s multidisciplinary teams, comprising doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and rehabilitation therapists, conduct extensive home visits each month to support patients living with life-limiting illnesses. Reliable high-speed connectivity and modern mobile devices now allow clinicians to coordinate patient updates in real time, make quicker clinical decisions, and deliver timely, compassionate care across homes and communities.
By integrating 5G connectivity into daily workflows, the initiative reduces friction caused by inconsistent network coverage and enables more efficient collaboration among care teams, even when operating in the field.
Yes: Connectivity as a Frontline Healthcare Enabler
Commenting on the collaboration, Wing K. Lee, Chief Executive Officer of YTL Communications, said the initiative reflects Yes’ belief that connectivity plays a vital role in frontline healthcare delivery. He highlighted that providing free 5G connectivity with uncapped data and speed is intended to make home visits smoother, clinical updates faster, and care decisions better informed, supporting Hospis Malaysia’s mission of delivering dignified, patient-centred care to Malaysian families.
HONOR Pad 10 5G Designed for Mobile Clinical Workflows
The HONOR Pad 10 5G was selected for its suitability in healthcare environments. The tablet features a bright display with eye-comfort technologies, smooth performance, a large battery capacity, and AI-powered writing tools. These capabilities support clinicians as they review patient records, document clinical notes on the go, and manage visits efficiently.
Paired with Yes’ high-speed 5G connectivity, the device enables a seamless digital workflow that improves productivity and reduces administrative burden during field operations.
Future-Ready with 5G Advanced Support
With Yes having recently activated 5G Advanced nationwide, the HONOR Pad 10 5G tablets deployed under this initiative are scheduled to receive a firmware over-the-air (FOTA) update in Q1 2026. This update will enable full support for the latest pre-6G technology, ensuring long-term readiness and continued performance improvements.
HONOR: Supporting Frontliners Through Meaningful Technology
Justin Li, President of HONOR South Pacific, said the company is proud to support Yes’ CSR initiative to strengthen Hospis Malaysia’s digital capabilities. He emphasised that HONOR hopes its devices will meaningfully enhance day-to-day operations for healthcare professionals serving communities with dedication. As a global leader in AI-driven device ecosystems, HONOR views this initiative as part of its broader mission to redefine human–device interaction and co-create a value-sharing digital ecosystem.
Hospis Malaysia Welcomes the Digital Boost
Dr Ednin Hamzah, Chief Executive Officer of Hospis Malaysia, expressed appreciation for the collaboration, noting that palliative care depends heavily on timely communication and coordinated clinical decisions. He said the tablets would significantly improve the organisation’s ability to respond to patients’ needs in real time, helping extend dignified and compassionate care to patients and their families.
Advancing Digital Health Through Practical Collaboration
The partnership underscores Yes’ leadership in community-focused CSR and reflects both organisations’ shared commitment to uplifting frontline workers, strengthening digital access, and supporting Malaysia’s broader digital health aspirations through practical, impactful technology.
