Samsung is in the midst of the biggest replacement programme they are facing, and now they have face another setback. A replacement unit for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has caught fire right in the owner’s pocket.

The customer was on a Southwest Airlines flight, just prior to taking off. The customer switched off his phone, put it in his pocket and suddenly the phone started to smoke. He then dropped the phone on the floor of the plane, and quoted from the news report “ a "thick grey-green angry smoke" was pouring out of the device” The plane had to be evacuated thanks to this incident.

The Verge did a check online, and the system on Samsung’s side said that the phone, which went up in smoke, was one of the newly replaced batch. Samsung responded and said that they can’t confirm the incident until they have received the device to be examined.

Definitely not a good day for Samsung, and we hope this is an isolated incident for the company. Stay tuned to TechNave for more Samsung news.
