The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), in collaboration with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), announced that electronic police reports for motor vehicle accidents can be made online, starting 1 September 2025. So, what should you know about it?
How does it work?
According to JSPT, this pilot project will be implemented along the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and applies to private vehicle drivers who are involved in accidents without any injuries or damage to any other vehicles and public structures.
Moreover, minor accident reports can be made online via the PDRM e-Reporting platform. JSPT explained that this pilot test is an alternative to the existing option of reporting accidents at the nearest police station.
In addition to being a digital initiative that combines policing expertise and financial regulation, particularly in the aspect of insurance claims.
This implementation also received the cooperation of the general insurance and takaful industry through the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM), the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) and PLUS as the highway operator where the pilot project is being carried out.
As of now, there are no further details on the news. So, we should wait for more announcements from the authorities.
