Three years ago, the Apple Wallet application was updated to support office keys, digital ID cards and even hotel keys. Recently, Google Wallet also starts to support many features as Apple. But that is not all, they are also starting to add hotel key support. So, what should you know about it?
According to the Google Support website, adding a hotel key to Google Wallet is the same as adding a debit or credit card. Users need to go to the website/application or follow the email instructions to press the "Add to Google Wallet" button. After finishing, depending on the Android device you are using after the device is unlocked just touch the back of the device to the hotel door knob to open it.
However, unlike airplane tickets, the majority of which automatically support “Add to Google Wallet” – hotels have to work with Google themselves if they want their keys to be able to be added to Google Wallet. So far only one hotel has been confirmed to use this feature, the Clarion Hotel Post in Gothenburg, Sweden.
We have yet to confirm other details on the subject. So, we should wait for more confirmation from Google. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.
