You can now call for internet broadband installations and maintenance services during MCO!

Malaysians have been experiencing slow internet speeds and some technical issues during the movement control order (MCO). Defense Minister Ismail Yaakob said Telco and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are now allowed to do installations and maintenance works at customers’ homes during MCO.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) explained the services including fixing broadband installations, restoration, network maintenance, and new infrastructure installations will resume at work. However, installation and maintenance work for broadband services, restoration work, telecommunications staff, and installers at customer premises are only permitted in the green zone locations with no confirmed Covid-19 cases during MCO.

According to the statement, premises that are located in the yellow and red zones are strictly prohibited. Service providers’ staff is only allowed to troubleshoot until the Distribution Point (DP) as entering the premises is only allowed for essential and critical services. During the services, staff and customers are required to present their declaration of health while having a face mask on and practicing social distancing at all times.

With that said, yellow zones and red zones consumers may consider subscribing to wireless broadband services without any need for home installations.
