Previously, Threads was tied directly to your Instagram account but deleting your Threads profile would mean doing the same for the latter too. It was quite a bizarre move, to say the least, but you can do it now thanks to the long-awaited update.
Officially confirmed by Adam Mosseri, Instagram CEO, he posted the news a few hours ago on his Threads account. The update is now rolling out to let you delete your Threads profile separately from your Instagram account as mentioned. So if that's what you have been waiting for, just go to the Threads Settings > Account > Delete or Deactivate Profile and select Delete.
On top of that, Mosseri also mentioned that the Threads team has introduced a feature for people on Facebook and Instagram to see new Threads posts. You may have seen them too if you browse your social media wall frequently. But if you don't like it, you can just press X or go to Settings and then to Privacy to turn it off.
