Microsoft has yesterday released a new cybersecurity app across Windows, macOS, iOS and Android using the ‘Defender’ moniker that should be familiar to Windows users. Available for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers, the features of the app will vary by the platform in which it is installed.

According to Microsoft’s official website, the app is designed for individuals and offers additional device protections. Furthermore, it will have a simplified dashboard that utilises existing antivirus software on the devices.

On Android, Defender includes antivirus protection, the ability to scan for malicious apps and scan links for web phishing protection. However on iOS and iPadOS, the app only offers web phishing protections alongside a dashboard that includes alerts for other devices with Defender installed.

Meanwhile on Windows, Defender acts akin to a dashboard as antivirus protection is defaulted to the built-in Windows Security app. On the dashboard, users can view existing antivirus protection from vendors such as Norton, McAfee and so on while managing and viewing security protection across devices.

Well, the app is definitely useful for those that want to monitor all their devices from one cross-platform app. What do you guys think?
