One of the most popular messaging platforms in the world, WhatsApp has recently announced a few new features on its app in regards to group calls. With its latest update, WhatsApp users can now mute others, message specific people and see a banner when someone joins offscreen during group calls on the app.

Shared by WhatsApp via its official Twitter account, this is definitely a quality-of-life update that’s sure to please those that frequently use WhatsApp group calls. At the very least, it would definitely avoid awkward situations where you can hear what’s going on in the background of specific person on the group call.

Furthermore, the ability to message someone specific from a WhatsApp group call is also quite useful for those that don’t want a specific information or message be heard by everyone on the call. Overall, the update is definitely something welcomed, though it’s quite surprising that the features weren’t already there in the first place.
