If you’ve ever visited the historic city of Melaka, then you’ve definitely seen one of those colourful trishaw rides on the road. Well, the next time you visit Melaka and want to take a trishaw ride, you can actually now pay using Touch ‘n Go e-wallet!
The use of the app as a payment option for trishaw rides in the state was introduced yesterday by the Melaka state government. The Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said that the initiative was in line with the development of technology, user friendly and a step to stop the spread of Covid-19.
As reported by national news agency Bernama,almost 80 percent of trishaw pullers in Melaka have received payments through the Touch 'n Go e-wallet. Soon, all 305 registered trishaw pullers are expected to use this method of payment.
Sulaiman lauded the initiative, which was implemented by the Melaka Tourism Promotion Division. This is the first trishaw service in the country. The Melaka Chief Minister also congratulated those who have transitioned to using the Touch 'n Go app.
