You can now remove Copilot from your Windows 11 thanks to this latest update

Microsoft finally allows IT administrators to uninstall the Copilot app from Windows 11, but the process is a bit complicated. So, what should you know about it?

This feature is currently limited to some builds

For now, this functionality is only available in the Build and Beta channels for Windows 11 Insider Preview, including Enterprise, Pro and EDU editions. In the Windows Insider Blog , it is controlled through a setting in a new Group Policy named RemoveMicrosoftCopilotApp .

"Administrators can now uninstall Microsoft Copilot for users in a targeted manner by enabling a new policy titled RemoveMicrosoftCopilotApp."

However, the requirements are strict as it requires both the Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Copilot applications to be installed. In fact, the Microsoft Copilot application cannot be manually installed by users, and it cannot be used within the last 28 days.

So, if you want to remove Copilot from your PC, you can do so by going to Group Policy Editor , then User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows AI > Remove Microsoft Copilot App. Many users have long requested this option because Copilot is considered too dominant in the operating system since Copilot became available to be automatically installed on Windows 10 and 11 PCs in 2023.
