If you're an avid Netflix user and you often watch it on your mobile devices, here's some good news for you - Netflix Malaysia has just announced a new mobile plan called Netflix Mobile. For just RM17/month, Malaysian Netflix members will get to enjoy watching their favourite shows with no Ads interrupting on their smartphones and tablets.
The Mobile plan still allows the user to have full access to all of Netflix's entire library of local and international shows. Besides the Ads-free feature, there's also Smart Downloads, Adaptive Streaming, Parental Controls, no-hassle cancellation, and each account can support up to 5 profiles. That said, there's unfortunately no HD and Ultra HD options available, so you will need to rely solely on Standard Definition (SD) and your phone's display quality (like OLED).
When asked what was the reason for this new plan, Ajay Arora, Director of Product Innovation at Netflix, simply said that their statistics show that Malaysians download, sign-up, and watch Netflix content on their mobile devices more than any country in South-East Asia. So with this, it only made sense to offer them this new package (makes sense for me too). Netflix Mobile is the first-ever Mobile plan ever introduced in the region.
The Netflix Mobile plan is already available in the app (make sure it's updated). For new members, simply download the app on the Apple App and Google Play Store and select the Mobile plan for RM17/month. Existing members can also switch to the new plan right over here.
