Looks like you’ll be able to replace your background while you’re in a video call on Skype for Mac very soon, based on a statement by thurrott.com. The aforementioned feature is currently being rolled out, and it will be available for everyone to use very soon.

In order to turn on the background replacement effect, all you need to do in access the Audio & Video settings on the application and select the background you’re interested in using.
