“You can’t fire your employees and replace them with AI’ - Chinese courts

In Hangzhou, China, a court ruled that firing human workers to be replaced by AI violates the country's labour laws. In a case heard in late April, an employee sued his former employer, who fired him after he refused to be demoted after his tasks were taken over by AI. That said, what should you know about it?

More than 40000 employees have been laid off because of AI

For your information, it is estimated that more than 40000 technology sector workers have been laid off this year due to the focus on artificial intelligence (AI) data centres and the claim that AI can replace all their jobs. All under the pretext of reducing costs and increasing the value of investors' shares.

Moreover, Chinese law prohibits employers from passing on operating costs to workers. AI should be used to improve corporate efficiency, free up labour, and improve employee welfare, not cause them to lose their jobs.

Additionally, China, as a socialist country for the working class, places importance on the people. This is different from capitalist countries like America, where profits are more important even if the working class is oppressed for the sake of increasing company shares.
