Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook today revealed that starting next year, the Transport Ministry will implement an initiative in which you may have to pay to get a physical driving license. Furthermore, he iterated that the Government will continue with the implementation of digital driving licenses and road tax in Malaysia.

Speaking at the Dewan Rakyat, Loke also revealed that the MyJPJ app has been downloaded by over 13.7 million users, with 10.7 million of them registering for JPJeID. Moreover, as of 31 October, MyJPJ amassed a revenue of nearly RM121 million from users renewing their road tax documents and driving licenses through the app.

Despite the move to digitalisation, Loke said that there have been complaints from the public who still want physical driving licenses and road tax. Hence, early next year, an initiative will be announced for anyone who wants to print their physical driving license, with an undisclosed fee being charged for printing the physical driving license cards.
