Anthony Loke, Malaysia’s Minister of Transportation recently announced that all public transportation will apply an open payment system so you may be able to use credit and debit cards to pay for Public Transportation. Previously, you could only use tokens or Touch N’ Go cards to make digital payments for Public Transportation like buses, LRT, MRT and Komuter.

No exact Malaysia release dates were given at the time, but he also mentioned that it may take several months to implement this payment system. He also mentioned that it would not replace the current system, just that it would leave it open to users to use any credit or debit card with paywave. Touch N Go users would still be able to pay with their existing cards.

Sounds like very quick action. Hopefully it becomes a reality as soon as mentioned. What do you guys think? Will you chuck your TnG card after this? Share your thoughts in the comments or our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com.
