Looks like Android users are in for a treat. Reportedly, Google announced that you will be able to use biometric authentication for purchases from the Play Store. That said, what should you know about it?
For your information, this could be a viable alternative to the traditional synced Google account & password. As of now, Google is sending out notifications and emails to Android users on the new features. Looks like Google is encouraging everyone to switch to the new feature. According to the email:
“On Google Play, you can set biometrics (fingerprint or face) as your purchase verification method on mobile devices that have biometric capability. If you set biometrics, it means you’ll be asked to verify it’s you with biometrics each time you purchase Google Play.”
Currently, if you want to enable the “Biometric Verification” feature in the Play Store settings, you need to enter your Google Account password. Overall, this feature is not exactly new for Google. Using biometric authentication to unlock Android devices or approve transactions has been present since almost 10 years ago. However, we could expect a more streamlined and smoother process moving forward. We can tell that Android users in Malaysia would appreciate this feature.
