Recently, Disney announced a change in the streaming services' pay structure. But that is not all, you might be unable to share your Disney+ account too. According to the company, these changes will happen starting next month.

These changes will affect two streaming plans for Disney+. That includes Disney+ with ads and Disney+ ad-free. Currently, Disney+ with ads costs you $7.99 (~RM36.54)—meanwhile, Disney+ ad-is priced at $10.99 (~RM50.26).

Starting next month, The price for Disney+ with ads will remain the same ($7.99,~RM36.54). However, the price for Disney+ ad-free rises to $13.99 (~RM63.98). Moreover, Disney+ CEO, Bob Iger says the company is “actively exploring ways to address account sharing”. These changes could happen starting next year. According to Bob:

“We are actively exploring ways to address account sharing and the best options for paying subscribers to share their accounts with friends and family. Later this year, we will begin to update our subscriber agreements with additional terms and our sharing policies. And we will roll out tactics to drive monetisation sometime in 2024.”

Iger also mentioned the number of Disney+ accounts being shared outside of individual households is significant. Hence, the company sees this trend as a priority to deal with. He added:

“We already have the technical capability to monitor much of this, and I’m not gonna give you a specific number except to say it’s significant. We certainly have established this as a real priority, and we think that there’s an opportunity here to help us grow our business.”
