YouTube Recap rolling out this week with your own Year-In-Review for 2025

Towards the year-end, music streaming services would often release a recap of what you have listened to all year long. This December, YouTube is rolling out "YouTube Recap", a first-of-its-kind personalised year-end summary for its users. The feature was officially announced on YouTube’s blog.

What Recap Includes: From Videos to Music

YouTube Recap is designed to work much like “wrapped”-style summaries from music and streaming services: it creates a custom “highlight reel” of your viewing habits. Based on your watch history from 2025, you’ll get up to 12 interactive cards that show things like your most-watched channels, favourite interests, how your viewing habits evolved over the year, and even a “viewer personality type” based on what you watched.

Recap isn’t limited to just long-form videos. It counts content from regular uploads as well as Short-form videos (Shorts). For users who also consume a lot of music, Recap extends into audio: if you streamed music on YouTube, you might also see top artists, top songs, and other music-related stats. For deeper music data — including genres, podcast trends and international listening — Recap optionally links to YouTube Music’s own recap summaries.

Where to Find Your Recap and Who Gets It

According to YouTube, Recap is available via the “You” tab on the YouTube app or website, or directly from a banner on the homepage that appears once the feature goes live. It will be available for YouTube users in North America first, followed by the rest of the world this week.

However, not all users may get a Recap. To be eligible, you need to have a watch history long enough to gather meaningful data. Accounts with paused watch history or those using auto-delete settings may not qualify. Also, Recap is not available for supervised accounts or underage users where the policy disallows.

A New Tradition for YouTube

With Recap 2025, YouTube has moved beyond generic recommendations to offer a personal, reflective, and shareable summary of each user’s year on the platform. This could be something exciting to look forward to every year if you watch a ton of YouTube videos. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
