YouTube Super Chat & Super Stickers officially available to Malaysians

Malaysian content creators prefer to operate on Facebook or Tiktok. This is because both platforms have a larger user base here, which is great for attracting advertisers. YouTube isn't as appealing because it's not as easy to monetise, or is it?

For those unaware, YouTube has features called Super Chat and Super Sticker. Both have been around for years and allow viewers to 'tip' content creators during live streams. However, these were never available in Malaysia before this, possibly due to tax regulations. That seems to have changed lately, as we have spotted both features enabled when checking out some live streams.

In live streams, you should be able to see a small icon with a dollar sign next to the Emoji menu. By clicking on that, you can send a Super Chat, Super Sticker, or sign up for Membership to the YouTube channel. Super Stickers are all on fixed amounts, but you can customise how much you want to tip with Super Chats. The more you tip, the longer your Super Chat will remain pinned to the top of the live chat. For content creators, your channel must fulfil certain requirements to be eligible for monetisation via Super Stickers and Super Chat. You can get more details here.

We're not sure if the two features are available to all Malaysians yet. But a few of us at TechNave confirmed that both are enabled, so you might see it up on your end too. Do check it out for yourself and let us know in the comments below! For more news like this, stay tuned to TechNave.com.
