Yup, you read that right. YouTube have just officially called off their annual YouTube Rewind special for 2020. The announcement was just made a few hours ago on their official Twitter page explaining why.

According to their tweet, the year 2020 has been different (you don't say) and for whatever reason, they feel it isn't right to proceed with YouTube Rewind 2020 so hence, they will take a break from it. Moreover, they acknowledged that there are a few good things that happened this year, but yeah, the rewind special isn't happening. They ended with "Thank you for making a difference" to the YouTubers who have found ways to lift the YouTube community spirits' up.

While some are supporting YouTube's decision, some do not see the same viewpoint as they think the company should continue to try. Reasons being are that Rewind would still bring the community together, as well as being able to entertain people around the world on the positive things that happened. Then again, YouTube Rewind has also been getting worst with each entry every year, especially 2019 where they just lazily feature YouTube celebrities montages without any creative direction.

But what do you folks think? Should YouTube Rewind 2020 happen? Give your thoughts in the comments below and stay safe, stay healthy, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
