That's right, it seems that YouTube is testing out yet another kind of subscription service. This time, the company is testing a two-person Premium Plan in select markets, including India, France, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
According to Moneycontrol, a YouTube spokesperson told the media that the new plan will allow users to share their subscription with one additional household member. It is currently on trial and is part of YouTube's broader strategy to expand its subscription business. The spokesperson further commented that this is an experiment to find new ways to provide greater flexibility and value.

In India, the two-person YouTube Premium plan is priced at ?219 per month, which is roughly around ~RM11 per month from a direct currency exchange rate, while the Music Premium costs ?149 (~RM7) as a separate plan. Of course, eligible users must be 13 years or older, possess a Google account, and be part of the same Google Family Group.
If the two-person YouTube Premium plan launches in other countries like Malaysia, it would be great for Malaysians, since YouTube keeps increasing the Premium subscription fees here. The latest increase was back in September 2024, starting from RM12.90 (student), followed by RM20.90 (individual) and RM41.90 (family) per month for Android.
On iOS, the fee is much higher at RM26.90 and RM54.90 per month for individual and family plans, respectively. This is the only legal way to watch YouTube without using an ad-blocker, which is only available on web browsers.
