YouTube is testing a new built-in clipping feature

Since YouTube is such a widely used platform, it only stands to reason that it continues to add useful features. The one that some may have wanted for a long time would be video clipping, which Twitch has had for years. Good thing YouTube is testing that now.

The feature was confirmed by YouTube Gaming in a tweet recently. Currently, the feature is in the alpha testing stage and only a few gaming channels will get access it. You will be able to make clips on desktop or Android, with iOS support coming soon. As you can see from the screenshot below, the feature appears as a scissors icon next to a video or stream's Share button.

In case you are unaware, this clipping feature basically lets you snip a portion of a video to create shorter ones that you can share. The clips can be between 5 to 60 seconds, which you can adjust using a slider. Once you have made your clip, you can share it on social media or embed in a website.

You can read this help page for more details, as there are some limitations. So, what do you think, is this a feature you would find useful? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
