YouTube launches Premium Lite - A more affordable subscription plan

As expected, YouTube is now expanding the trial of its new subscription plan, Premium Lite, to users in the United States. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, at $7.99 (~RM35.38) per month, compared to $13.99 (~RM61.94) for the regular YouTube Premium, this plan allows users to watch the majority of videos ad-free, including content related to gaming, fashion, beauty, news and more.

Additionally, ads will still be displayed on music content and music videos on the platform. To enjoy ad-free music video viewing on YouTube and YouTube Music, you will still need to subscribe to the existing Premium plan, which also provides access to offline download and background play features. Premium Lite does not include these privileges and only focuses on an ad-free YouTube viewing experience.

“In the coming weeks, we will also launch Premium Lite for all users in the existing trial countries - Thailand, Germany and Australia.”

Meanwhile, YouTube also stated that its YouTube Music and Premium services have now reached over 125 million subscribers worldwide, including trial users. Premium Lite will also be expanded to more countries this year. We have yet to confirm if this plan will be available in Malaysia. So, we should wait for more details from YouTube.
