The public has long wondered how much Google makes a year through YouTube but those numbers were never revealed. But recently, YouTube's parent company decided to include YouTube ad revenue in its quarterly report and it's a massive USD 15 (~RM61.76) billion.

In its official Q4 earnings report, Alphabet announced that YouTube made nearly USD 4.7 (~RM19.35) billion in Q4 2019 through YouTube ads. In comparison, the platform made USD 3.6 (~RM14.82) billion in Q4 of 2018. Also, the annual revenue of USD 15 billion means that YouTube alone contributed to 10% of the company's full revenue for 2019, which was recorded at USD 162 (~RM667) billion.

Besides ad revenue, YouTube also makes money through other services. According to The Verge, the platform's Premium ad-free and Music Premium subscription service currently have a combined subscriber base of over 20 million users. In the earnings report, these are included under 'Google other', which made more than USD 5 (~RM20.59) billion in Q4 2019 as well.
