YouTube now allows conversion of long videos into YouTube Shorts via mobile devices

Many people love to watch videos online, and short-form video is probably the most popular format these days. Besides the highly popular TikTok, YouTube Shorts has also gained a substantial userbase of about 1.5 billion users. As such, it makes sense to add a new feature to help make Shorts.

Recently, YouTube announced a new way for you to make YouTube Shorts. YouTube channels can now convert any uploaded video into a YouTube Shorts video. This could be useful for various scenarios, like breaking down a long tutorial into different steps/parts. You can also add additional content via the camera, just note that the total video length can't exceed 60 seconds. Shorts you make will also be linked back to the original video.

As you can tell, this feature is very similar to clipping, except it also lets you add some BGM or video capture from your camera. Another thing to note is that the feature is only available via the Android and iOS mobile apps. In other words, you can't do this on a mobile browser (trust me, I tried). Funny enough, I've also noticed that the new 'Create' button would appear in videos from channels that you don't own, despite YouTube saying that you can't.

So, is this feature something you'd find handy? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
