YouTube announced a few new features to its app and web version today including Most replayed, Video Chapters on Smart TVs and gaming consoles, Single Loop and quick action buttons while in full screen mode. Besides that, a new experimental feature will also come out soon, whereby YouTube will help to skip to the exact moment in a video that users want to watch.
Announced by TeamYouTube Community Manager Meaghan on the Google Support page, the platform is making it easier for users to find content that they’re most interested in. Most of the features are currently being rolled out on the platform starting from today.
For Most Replayed, you will be able to see a graph showing you the most frequently replayed parts of the video you’re currently watching. If the graph is high, it means that the part of the video has been replayed often.
Based on the illustration shared by YouTube, it looks like that there will also be a floating thumbnail indicating the part of the video that is most popular. Furthermore, it also has ‘Most replayed’ written on it when scrolling over the part on the video player.
As for Video Chapters, it's basically the same as the ones that we are currently familiar with on YouTube. What’s new is that the feature is now available for Smart TVs and gaming consoles, as well as auto-generated chapters for videos in which their creators didn’t include video chapters.
The next feature, Single Loop, is exactly as you’d imagine. Finally, you can now keep playing one video continuously in an endless loop, which is something that users have been wanting for ages.
As for the Quick action buttons, users will now have a new quick action buttons when going full screen. Hence, moving forward, you can like, dislike, comment, share, or add a video to a playlist directly from full screen mode.
Lastly, YouTube said that it is also testing a new experimental feature which will be coming to YouTube Premium subscribers first. The company said that the feature will allow user to go to the exact moment in a video that they want to watch, potentially by using AI.
