YouTube to have AI live chat summaries and QR codes soon

Despite YouTube's constant need to slam the ban hammer on Adblockers, the company does just as much to improve the experience for content creators. Last week, there was a report about a green screen feature and earlier this week there was one about YouTube allowing 3 thumbnails per video. But there are more features on the way.

According to a YouTube help page, YouTube is testing an AI that can summarise comment topics for YouTube Shorts. In theory, the AI could organise large sections of English comments into understandable topics. This would help people understand what's being discussed in the comments. Creators can also use these summaries to go straight to the relevant comment topics and engage with their audience. An AI-generated live chat summaries feature is also being explored. This one is probably based on the same AI algorithm and should work the same.

Another feature being tested for shorts is user-generated effects. These would help spice up Shorts without having to use a video editor, so it might be more useful for casual users. Besides that, the company wants to add the ability to search on YouTube with Google Lens. From what we can tell, this feature will probably function like Circle to Search.

Mind you, it's important to remember that these features are only being tested by a selected group of users. In other words, don't expect them to be released anytime soon. Regardless, do you think these features are useful for you? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates like this.
