Access to watching video content on YouTube has been restricted again. This time, video game content that features extreme violence and has gambling elements cannot be viewed by underage users or without logging into their account. So, what should you know about it?

These guidelines will be enforced starting 17 November 2025

These guidelines are enforced starting November 17. All videos that fall into this category will be blocked if the YouTube account activates the Restricted Mode feature. Violent content that continues to be played, such as Call of Duty or Mortal Kombat, is now blocked.

Moreover, channel owners can no longer zoom in on violent scenes if they don't want their videos to be restricted. They can blur these actions to avoid having their videos restricted. Gambling content such as casinos, poke boxes, and skin purchases, will also now begin to be restricted.

Additionally, this step is taken by YouTube to ensure that underage viewers are not exposed to content that is not appropriate for them. YouTube's age control system allows parents to set these limits through their child's account settings or Google Family Link controls.

For adult users, these guidelines will not have an impact on the content that can be watched. So, you might be unaffected by the new rules
