Copyright strike is currently a huge problem faced by the content creators on YouTube. Sometimes, it can be really frustrating when it comes to dealing with music labels or third party companies regarding the materials used in the videos. YouTube has been working to make things simpler for the creators to distribute their works. Recently, the platform has rolled out new features for the content creators on YouTube Studio to avoid copyright claims by editing their videos directly on the site.

Now, creators are allowed to identify which videos violate the copyright claims in a new column called ‘Restrictions’ on YouTube Studio. Later on, they can choose to edit the videos or remove them completely from the site. Most of the time, copyright issue haunts the creators because of the song choice. But now, songs that violate the rules will be asked to be replaced or muted when editing. This would be a useful feature for the creators to respond immediately rather than getting blocked in the future.

If their videos are showing content that doesn’t go with the rules, they can just trim them directly on the site. However, the duration of the trimming section is not to be decided by the creators as they can’t adjust the endpoints. The appointed duration is decided by the algorithm of Content’s ID, which helps to identify content from YouTube’s videos.

Other than that, YouTube has also announced there will be more updates coming in 2020 that will help creators to reduce the pain of copyright claims. Nowadays, most content creators are trying to monetize their videos, so all these copyright issues make it hard for them to make a living on the platform.
