Your MyDigitalID must be renewed every year

MyDigital ID is a valid and secure personal identification system for online use. It does not replace MyKad or any other personal identification document but serves as personal identification for online transactions. However, you will have to renew it every year. So, what should you know about it?

In the 2025 Budget presentation, Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim said MyDigital ID would soon become the government's sole application. However, many may not know that MyDigital ID has an expiration date and needs to be renewed every year.

MyDigital ID Digital Certificate is valid for one year from the date of registration - which is one of the security features of this system. After expiration, users need to renew their digital ID within 90 days. Digital ID re-registration must be done online or at a nearby kiosk if not renewed within that period.

The same concept also applies if the MyDigital ID application is uninstalled or deleted from the smartphone. The Digital Certificate will become invalid, and the user will need to cancel the MyDigital ID at the kiosk and re-register.
