Today, Youtube released new features for Shorts. According to the company, this is a lightweight and fun way to create and share short-form videos on YouTube. These new features range from remixing tools to expanding the Youtube Partner Programme so they can monetise their shorts.

Firstly, the “Collab” feature allows you to (as aptly named) collab by recording a Short in a side-by-side layout with an existing YouTube clip. Safe to say, Youtube is not the first to do this because it was already available on TikTok and Instagram. But the similarities do not end there, because Youtube also introduced Q&A stickers.

This feature allows your audience to ask questions and respond to comments with texts or other shorts. Plus, Youtube also makes it easier for you to create shorts from the existing content. Interestingly, you can convert your landscape videos into portrait-oriented Shorts.

In addition, you can save your favourite Shorts to a playlist and live videos in the Shorts feed. You can also copy effects and audio from a remixed clip. Interestingly, you can also go live on Shorts as well. To do this, you have to stream vertically. Other minor additions, such as channel memberships, Super Chats and Super stickers will also be available. It is also worth noting that you can monetise your shorts through the YouTube Partner Program. This is great for beginners because the lower eligibility requirements allow them to unlock these fan funding features.
