Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today revealed that the government is planning to provide each student in the country with a device to facilitate digital learning. He added that despite financial constraints, the government will try to implement the initiative in phases beginning as early as this year.
According to Bernama, Zahid Hamidi was quoted as saying that a tablet for each student is the aspiration of the Education Ministry. He added that this new method of learning through devices is inevitable.
The Deputy Prime Minister further elaborated that the system is already in place and that the pedagogical teaching methods are there, but only the tablets themselves are the constraint. He expects that if it can be implemented in phases starting this year, the majority of students will have tablets from the government in the next 4 to 5 years.
