According to Reuters via Paul Tan.org, a Zeekr spokesperson said the company plans to establish an operations centre in Thailand. That means Zeekr could work with local distributors and start selling electric vehicles (EVs) in the first half of this year.

For your information, Zeekr was founded in 2021 and is owned by Geely. Currently, the company has 001, 007, 009 and X in its lineup. In addition to Thailand, the spokesperson told Reuters that the automaker has also signed contracts with local distributors in Laos, Myanmar, and the Philippines, with sales in those markets said to begin in the second quarter of 2024.

In addition, Zeekr is reportedly expanding into Southeast Asia following reports last November. Reportedly, the company announced it was developing a right-hand drive car with plans to deliver it to customers starting this year. It has also announced it will enter the markets of Hong Kong and Singapore as well as Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia

For Malaysia, so far, no official announcement has been made but there is a possibility that this brand will enter our market. In April last year, Proton New Energy Technology Sdn. Bhd. (PRO-NET) were tasked with handling the sale and distribution of smart vehicles and new energy vehicles (NEVs). That means confirmed it could also bring another EV brand from Geely namely Zeekr after this.
