Our government is back with another financial aid with the initiative to encourage cashless spending among youths and full-time students at registered local institutions of higher learning (IPT). Besides that, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) also hopes that it could ease the financial burden of the target group.

Starting from 1 June to 22 July, e-cash credit that worth RM150 is claimable through the eBelia programme via BigPay, Boost, ShopeePay and Touch n’ Go eWallet. It is worth mentioning that the credit can only be spent until 31 July 2021. Those who are eligible to claim the credit include citizens reached the age of 18 to 20 years in 2021 (born in 2001 to 2003); or full-time students at the diploma level or SKM4 and above in public and private institutions of higher learning in Malaysia registered with the ministry involved.

It is said that "the government has improved this initiative with an additional allocation of RM100 million under the PEMERKASA (Strategic programme to Empower the People and the Economy) programme announced last March, bringing the total allocation for this programme to RM300 million." The initiative is also expected to benefit a total of two million youths.
