According to Paul Tan, the 2026 iCAUR 03 CKD has officially launched in Malaysia with a starting price of RM129800. The electric SUV is now being locally assembled at Chery Corporate Malaysia’s facility in Shah Alam, marking a new phase for the brand’s expansion in the local EV market.

Originally introduced in Malaysia in September 2025 as a fully imported model, the iCAUR 03 stood out for its rugged boxy styling and off-road-inspired design. With the new CKD version, the company is retaining most of the features and tech specs from the earlier model while shifting production locally to remain competitive in Malaysia’s growing EV segment.

iCAUR 03 enters the local assembly phase in Malaysia

For your information, the first batch of locally assembled units is expected to arrive at dealerships nationwide by the end of May 2026. For now, the CKD lineup will only be offered in the Intelligent Wheel Drive (iWD) variant, unlike the earlier launch, which included both 2WD and all-wheel drive options.

In addition, the moves into local assembly come as more EV brands in Malaysia transition away from fully imported models following changes to import-related incentives. Local production is also expected to improve supply stability and strengthen after-sales support for Malaysian customers.

From a lifestyle and tech perspective, the iCAUR 03 continues to focus on combining EV performance with SUV practicality. Its squared exterior styling, LED lighting setup, and digital-focused cabin help position it as an EV designed for buyers who prefer a more adventurous appearance compared to the rounded crossover designs commonly seen today.

Performance and charging features remain unchanged

Besides that, the locally assembled iCAUR 03 iWD retains the same dual-motor all-wheel drive setup as the imported version. It produces 279 PS and 385 Nm of torque, powered by a 69.8 kWh battery pack. The EV offers a claimed driving range of up to 418 km based on the NEDC cycle.

Furthermore, charging support includes 6.6 kW AC charging and up to 80 kW DC fast charging. The SUV also supports Vehicle-to-Load functionality, allowing users to power compatible electronic devices directly from the vehicle.

Moreover, iCAUR Malaysia is also expected to continue expanding its dealership and service network across the country as EV adoption grows further. The company previously shared plans to strengthen its nationwide presence, including East Malaysia.
