Whenever there is a new iOS upgrade, some iPhone models tend to have improved battery life. So what about iOS 18? Well, according to Geekerwan, this Chinese blogger did a battery test on all the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 15 Pro models, as well as other Android flagships.

In the YouTube video, Geekerwan's battery test involves using WeChat for texting, voice and video calls, web browsing, using Douyin (TikTok) and playing Genshin Impact until the battery goes flat. While the iPhone 16 Pro Max has the best battery performance lasting up to 10 hours, what caught his attention is the iPhone 15 Pro Max because it gained an extra hour of battery life with iOS 18.

For comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the previous iOS almost lasted 8 hours of usage (7 hours and 56 minutes, to be precise). But with iOS 18, it went up to 9 hours and 2 minutes. This applies to the iPhone 15 Pro as well, which previously lasted 6 hours and 22 minutes but only for a few minutes at 6 hours and 55 minutes with iOS 18.

This may have something to do with the "advanced power management of iOS 18" which Apple mentioned a couple of times during its Apple Event two weeks ago. As Geekerwan explained, iOS 18 would wait a bit longer before boosting up the core frequencies which uses less power and resulting lesser battery drainage. On paper, this would affect benchmark scores but not that much.
