Since the pandemic started, a common issue with some smartphones is that they can't be unlocked if you're wearing a mask. The Apple iPhone 12 series has this problem, though there are some workarounds. Fortunately, Apple is working to solve this for iPhone users.

According to FrontPageTech, Apple is testing a prototype case that houses a new Face ID array. This array features an extra sensor that allows Face ID to unlock properly, even if the user is wearing a mask or fogged-up glasses. Mind you, Apple came up with an alternate unlock method a few months back with a software update. However, that method required you to have an Apple Watch.

The new array may be what the upcoming iPhone 13 would have. By testing it using the prototype case, Apple can release cases that ensure Face ID will work with other iPhone models. Allegedly, Apple has been testing this hardware extensively, which shows that the company is keen on solving this issue.

Apple could keep the new hardware for the iPhone 13 series only, so no optional case for other models. It's not a deal-breaker, but would you prefer getting the new model if that's the case? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates about this.
