International ride-hailing service inDrive has officially been in Malaysia since 2021 and is looking to further solidify its position in our country this year. Its macroregional director for Asia Pacific, Mark Tolley, said that inDrive expects to exceed 40,000 registered drivers by the end of 2025.

According to Bernama, Tolley said that the company is committed to enhancing support, improving earning opportunities and fostering stronger collaboration with local driver associations. He added that inDrive’s growth in Malaysia mirrors the strength of its model, which prioritises fairness, flexibility and user choice.

Tolley further noted that the company is establishing mini driver support centres in key cities in Malaysia such as Penang and Johor Bahru. These centres will provide localised assistance, training and improved service accessibility for drivers.

As of August 2024, inDrive recorded a 53.7 per cent increase in rides, a 56.1 per cent surge in active users and a 36.1 per cent increase in active drivers. This marks a significant acceleration compared to its cumulative growth in 2022 and 2023 when rides grew by 26.1 per cent, users by 16.8 per cent and drivers by 23.3 per cent.
