In case you missed it, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) announced on its social media pages that the Time-of-Use (ToU) tariff switching feature is available on the myTNB app. This feature was introduced a few months ago, allowing customers to manage their electricity costs on the TNB website, and now directly from their smartphones.

The 4 Steps to Change to ToU on myTNB

By enabling tariff changes directly through the myTNB app, users can now switch to the ToU scheme more quickly and with fewer barriers, without the need for physical forms or customer service visits. This move is aimed at encouraging wider adoption of flexible electricity pricing, especially among digitally savvy households that are increasingly conscious of energy usage and cost optimisation. Below are the following four steps:

  1. Tap on the Time of Use icon on the myTNB homepage.
  2. Choose your account for the tariff.
  3. Tap 'begin' to confirm.
  4. Tap 'send' after confirming your personal details.

After that, tap on 'status confirmed' and you're done. Do keep in mind that the ToU change will take up to five business days to process. However, it can also take up to two months if customers do not yet have smart meters or have not yet been activated.

Understanding the ToU Scheme

To recap, the Time-of-Use tariff allows customers to benefit from lower electricity rates during off-peak hours, encouraging energy consumption to be shifted away from peak demand periods. This pricing structure not only helps users reduce their monthly bills but also supports better load management across the national power grid.

Customers interested in understanding the Time-of-Use scheme in greater detail can visit www.mytnb.com.my/tariff under the Skim Masa Penggunaan – ToU section. The information outlines eligibility requirements, time blocks, and how different usage patterns can translate into potential savings. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
