If you are wondering what is the best broadband connections, nPerf, a French company based in Lyon (France) conducted a web speed test analysis in Malaysia on the main operators - MaxisTIME and unifi. The test took place between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2024.

According to nPerf, TIME Internet stands out as the market leader, demonstrating performance in upload speeds with a score of 172 Mb/s. With this, TIME is seen as the top choice for users who require efficient and fast uploading capabilities. Maxis ranks second with a not-so-bad score of 20ms excelling in latency. Unifi is not that far behind either. In fact, this company is co-leading in download speeds with an impressive score of 206.5 Mb/s. For your information, the nPerf score takes into account the measured speeds, the latency and the streaming and browsing tests. The value of the points for the rates and the latency is calculated on a logarithmic scale, to represent the perception of the user better.

So overall, nPerf concluded that TIME leads Malaysia's ISP market leading or co-leading on every key performance indicator. Maxis excels in latency while Unifi offers the fastest download speeds. On a related note, nPerf also noted that the average download speed in Malaysia has been 205 Mb/s, between July 2023 and June 2024. This is higher than in countries such as New Zealand (176 Mb/s), Japan (173 Mb/s), Taiwan (83 Mb/s), India (71 Mb/s) or Indonesia (46 Mb/s).

The nPerf study is based on thousands of tests carried out exclusively by the operators' end customers, making it one of the country's largest "crowdsourced" studies. These tests reflect the real experience of the general public in Malaysia on the various Internet networks.

The study employs a strong ?ltering method to re?ect real customer experiences on a speci?c network. Measures are taken to prevent probes and measurement robots from affecting the results. The nPerf speed test is compatible with all broadband connections: ADSL, VDSL, cable, optical fibre FTTH / FTTB, satellite, Wi-Fi and WiMAX.
