This October continues to see a slew of flagship phones launching in quick succession. The latest one is from ZTE, which unveiled its new nubia Z80 Ultra smartphone today. Unlike its cousin, the RedMagic 11 Pro, this phone is more focused on photography than gaming.
Tech specs and features
The nubia Z80 Ultra sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, 12GB/16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. As you can tell, the nubia Z80 Ultra's specs are similar to its RedMagic counterpart. It even comes with the same 6.85-inch AMOLED display that has a 144Hz refresh rate and 1216 x 2688 resolution. Powering it is a 7200mAh battery, which supports 90W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.

While the RedMagic 11 Pro has a powerful cooling system for better gaming performance, the nubia Z80 Ultra offers a superior camera system. The former sports a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. As for the front, it uses a simple 16MP selfie camera.
In contrast, the Z80 Ultra packs a 50MP main camera, 64MP periscope camera (3.3x optical zoom), and 50MP ultra-wide camera. The ultra-wide camera supports macro mode up to 15cm away, so it has macro covered too. It has the same 16MP selfie camera, but it's under the display, so there's no punch-hole obstructing your view of the screen.
More importantly, the nubia Z80 Ultra comes with a dedicated camera kit. What makes it special is that it transforms the phone into a retro-styled digital camera. This would make the photography experience feel more authentic, plus the grip and shutter should make extended photograph sessions (like holiday trips) more comfortable.
