realme 6 series is not successor to realme 5 series but will instead be a more advanced series

The realme 6 series is launching in India tomorrow and we fully expect details to be revealed before the launch. In fact, the people at realme aren't shy about spoilers and have said that the realme 6 is the new Pro. But what does that even mean?

realme India's CMO, Francis Wang, made this statement in a tweet yesterday. It would seem that what he's trying to say is that rather than being a successor to the realme 5 series, the realme 6 series is not meant to be in the same range/level as the realme 5 series. It's expected to perform better and come with more bells and whistles. Of course, this also means that it will likely be more expensive. Wang even points this out in his tweet by explaining that it's from the "pricing perspective".

Currently, it's already been confirmed that there will be two models in the realme 6 series - the realme 6 and 6 Pro. Both are expected to come with a 64MP main rear camera with 20x digital zoom, 90Hz refresh rate display, and support for 30W fast-charging. The GeekBench score for the realme 6 Pro that surfaced recently also suggests that it may be using a Snapdragon 765 chipset, though some speculate that it may be a more affordable Snapdragon 720 chipset instead.

Whether realme would still make a succeeding series to the realme 5 is yet to be confirmed. But if the company is hoping to diversify its product portfolio like this, we hope that it at least has the decency to use different naming conventions to avoid confusion.
