Back in January, realme launched the realme 9i smartphone in Malaysia. This is a lower mid-range model that features the Snapdragon 680 chipset but lacks the 5G modem that's becoming increasingly important. Fortunately, the company does have a 5G variant that will launch soon.

In an official Twitter post, realme announced that the realme 9i 5G will be unveiled on 18 August 2022 in India. As you can see from the teaser image, this 5G variant of the realme 9i has a notably different design. It not only comes with flat sides but also has a more pronounced camera bump. You'll probably have to use a cover for the device. realme also seems to have gone with a standard power button, instead of one that has an integrated fingerprint reader.

As for the specs, the only thing we know is that it will be equipped with the Dimensity 810 5G chipset. If everything else remains the same, the realme 9i 5G should also have 4GB or 6GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. Moreover, we can expect a 6.6-inch LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate (or more), 5000mAh battery, 33W fast charging support, and a 50MP main camera.

If priced well, the realme 9i 5G could be one of the more affordable 5G smartphones available. Of course, that's assuming it makes its way to Malaysia. Would you get one if it does? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates about it.
